Was flying out of Philly once when the pushback tug slammed into the nose gear — the plane shook from it. I immediately get on my phone, call my assistant, and tell her to book me on the next flight from Philly. Everyone sitting around me just laughed. After sitting for a couple of minutes, the captain gets on the mike and says “we have a maintenance issue we need to check out before we can leave.” AA ended up having to fly a part in from NYC to fix the plane.

The rest of the story. I am rebooked onto the next flight — only 5 seats available, so I was lucky. Lucky right up until that flight was cancelled due to a maintenance issue. I ended up back on my original flight, departing 4 hours later than it was supposed to.
